Review of Associations Between Type 2 Diabetes and Cancer

Type 2 appears to be a contributor to higher rates of some types of cancer. Rates of endometrial, liver, pancreatic, breast, colorectal cancers are most closely associated with type 2 diabetes. Obesity and insulin resistance appear to be major mechanisms of this link; therefore, reduction of these factors should be a focus of treatment.
